I was a skeptic when it came to 'poking needles' into a person. That was until I actually became a patient of Jeanette Morris of Awakenings Acupuncture & Herbal Clinic, LLC.

I had been suffering with severe knee pain (like a razor blade was cutting me), a shoulder that just ached and would catch every now and then, and leg cramps. I began my journey of healing with massage therapy at Bodywork by Nancy in the Spring of 2013. By June, Nancy suggested I make an appointment with Jeanette to see if she could help me. My first meeting with Jeanette was far different than most doctors, as she actually sat with me, unrushed!, and questioned me about my diet, my sleep patterns and a general background of health related history.

I wasn't sure if I noticed anything after the first treatment, but definitely did after the second treatment. I saw Jeanette on a regular basis for about a month and a half; then moved into a maintenance program once a month for about 7 months. Each visit brought relief from the pain. She recommended using an electrical treatment on my elbow.... the pain was gone within 3 treatments.

Not only, did Jeanette's treatment (along with massage therapy) bring relief from the pain, but her counsel on what foods might be triggering the inflammation in my body redirected me into a different choice of foods to nurture and treat my body with care. I have been able to remove, by eliminating certain foods, the over the counter products of Aleve and Previcid and now take a Chinese herb for any discomfort of arthritic aching.

I cannot say enough about the treatment through acupuncture and massage therapy in treating your body with natural care.

I HAVE BEEN A PATIENT OF JEANETTE'S FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS. A BIT OF HISTORY ON MY HEALTH IS THAT I HAVE WEGENER'S DISEASE, AND WAS IN HORRIBLE HEALTH WHEN I WAS REFERRED TO JEANETTE. SYMPTOMS WERE AS FOLLOWS: SORES IN MY MOUTH, ON MY TONGUE, RECTAL, AND VAGINAL AREA'S. MY LIPS WOULD BLEED AND WERE SO SORE I COULDN'T EAT AND EVEN HAD A HARD TIME TALKING. MY DAYS CONSISTED OF LAYING, SLEEPING, AND CRYING. DEPRESSION WAS HUGE. I HAD GAINED 50 LBS DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF PREDNISONE (60 MG A DAY) I WAS TAKING. I HAD NIGHT SWEATS, COULDN'T WALK ON ONE FOOT, AND WAS HORRIBLY BLOATED. I WAS IN SO MUCH PAIN, THAT I WAS TAKING 9 PAIN PILLS A DAY. MY DR'S HAD TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO GO TO THE UNIVERSITY OF OREGON, THEY HAD NO OTHER WAY FOR ME TO GET BETTER AND WOULD NEED EXTENSIVE STUDIES DONE.

I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT THE ACUPUNCTURE OR HERBS. I CAN TELL YOU I WASN'T EVEN SURE THAT I BELIEVED IN THIS. IT TOOK ABOUT 2 WEEKS, GOING TO SEE JEANETTE ONCE A WEEK, FOR ME TO SEE RESULTS. NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN GOING FOR 3 MONTHS TO SEE HER, TAKING THE HERBS AND DOING ACUPUNCTURE, I AM A TRUE BELIEVER OF HER PRACTICE. SHE HAS MY MOUTH WITH NO SORES, NO NIGHT SWEATS, NO SORES ON MY BODY, AND I CAN WALK NORMAL AGAIN. LET ALONE THE WEIGHT LOSS OF 30 LBS, AND HAVING MUCH MORE ENERGY. Menopause – it is a different experience for each woman. I had issues with hot flashes during the day and night, as well as sexual dysfunction (no interest in having sex with my husband, and if we did, no orgasm). Jeanette made custom herbal formulas for me, and we would consult each week in the beginning, as she continued to refine the formula to suit my needs. We now are meeting every other week, and I would say that about 95% of my issues have been taken care of. My husband is very pleased that I am once again interested in being intimate, and my orgasms are back.

Before working with Jeanette, I had been doing hormone therapy with my GYN, and it just wasn’t helpful, either with the hot flashes or the sexual issues. I wish more women were aware of how helpful Chinese herbal medicines can be for menopause.

Jeanette truly cares for the whole person. Unlike traditional medical providers that only focus on their area of so called expertise, she takes a wholistic approach and treats the person not just the symptom. Three years ago I was involved in an industrial accident that crippled my back severly. The doctors put me out to pasture and said there was nothing more they could do. They did offer me some high powered Pain Killers that I refused to take because they made me feel worse then I did without them. They were the type that one could become addicted to and I had seen many people that were and that wasn't what I wanted.

Someone gave me Jeanette's card one day and I went online and read about what all she did. I thought why not try. I gave her a call and she was very pleasent and answered all of my questions and made me an appointment.

The very first visit helped get rid of one of my worst pains that was almost constant. I have seen her about six times now and am now able to do things that I haven't been able to do in over three years now. Thanks to Jeanette my life is much better and a whole lot more active without suffering the pain I used to have. Each day is better and my energy level is improving. I still have to watch what I do because of the injuries I have, but thanks to her I am now able to get around and not sit in my chair all day keeping the pain from getting too bad.

When I developed a seizure disorder in December of 2005, I thought my life was going to be changed forever. I spent most of the next year in and out of the hospital and seeing new doctors from different fields of medicine. None of them could tell me exactly what was wrong with me, but they were all eager to give me new prescriptions to try. I had been on almost every anti-convulsant on the market and I was still having uncontrollable seizures on a daily basis. It got so bad that I was forced to quit my job and could no longer attend classes. I basically spent my days in bed.

When my Aunt Jeanette came for a visit, she learned of my condition. Upon hearing all of my symptoms and everything that I had been going through, she quickly jumped into action. She asked me questions that no other doctor had asked me before and took a very detailed history from the beginning of my illness. Jeanette made sure I understood everything she was talking about before we moved on to the next subject. Before I knew it she had a plan of attack all mapped out for me that didn’t include a new prescription. I started taking an herbal formula that she made specific to my needs and I also started to take vitamins and supplements. Before too long, I was weaned off of over half of the prescriptions that had been wreaking havoc on my body for so long and felt better than I had in a long time.

Today I’m still making progress, a little everyday. My seizures are now under control and I hardly have them anymore. Most of my other symptoms are gone as well including dizziness, nausea and fatigue. I still have a long road ahead of me, but now I know that recovery is attainable. To say that I’m thankful to Jeanette Morris would be an understatement. Without her knowledge and assertive attitude, I’m sure I would be in the same situation as I was before.
